sapphire x1950xt Temps

I just got this card and it seems to run *really* hot, and loud!.

I've set up rivatuner and i can run the ETQW beta on decent settings, but the card runs at ~68 degrees, with the fan at 50%. The default fan profile was getting 72+ running 3D mark. :eek:

The fan on 50% is *really* quite loud.

Is it safe to run the card at 70 or 80 degrees? Is mine running hotter than it shoud?

For the stock cooler that's normal.

I'd recommend the Zalman VF900-CU I fitted to mine but having just tested it using ATi Tool the GPU still gets up to around 80ºC under full load. :(

I think it might need re-seating so will post back when I've done it.

Right I de-dusted / tightened it and now I'm getting 70ºC-ish which is apparently normal.

The main use for the Zalman isn't better cooling but reducing the noise level. :)

There are also Arctic Cooling's behemoth ugly actice coolers, which according to the reviews, cool quiet well. I think they are called CoolViva Plus or Pro or something like that.

Also, you could get an Arctic Cooling Accelero S1, which is passive, and attach the Turbo Module (read: two clip-on fans for the S1/S2). The temps then are great. Have a read here:

It's a review, where they simply put a 120mm fan over the S1, they used Sapphire's X1950XT :) The temperatures are amazing, and you could use any big slow fan yourself (Sharkoon 1000 maybe?)

It was an X1950GT, but still good performance. :)

Oh, my bad. On the S1 page, it says XT, and on others GT. Still, I don't think the GT is that much cooler than the XT.

The S1 i can only find at OCUK for £20, then i have to buy a fan.

Does anyone know what the Arctic cooling X2 is like?
I don't really like the way the hot air is directed towards the motherboard :confused:

edit: I found lots of good reviews, and apparently it puts the inside (mobo temp) up a few degrees
