Seems a good price for the card, next step up really with Nvidia is the 8800GTS for an extra 100 quid. Suprised no-one has stepped up with an ATI equivalent for comparison (as a Linux user I only do Nvidia cards).

X1950XT can be had for £105...that's a better, fairly similar price ATI Equivalent.

    On Ebuyer if you're interested

    Buy it here: http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/119441

Comparison ...the X9150XT is LOTS better since you have the 256Mb version which is considerably worse than the 7800GTX 512Mb

    Battlefield 2142 : http://www23.tomshardware.com/graphi...=724&chart=278

Doom 3 (which Nvidia cards are generally better on...but not in this case) http://www23.tomshardware.com/graphi...=724&chart=288

    3DMark2006: http://www23.tomshardware.com/graphi...=724&chart=313

Results seem to suggest the X1950XT is about 25%-40% faster than the 7800GTX your mate if offering, second hand I might add, compared to brand new.

Alternatively X1950rpo...half way between both for £90.

    http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/119203

Recommend the extra £15 for the X1950XT over the pro though.

Would really settle for under 65 in all honesty..

I sold a faster X1800XT 512MB for 65 delivered.. so I would reckon prices slightly under for these kind of hardware..

X1950XT is a very good buy for 110ish.. at least fairly noticeable difference to the 7800GTX u're getting..
    Me want Ultrabook

I bought an XFX 7900gs from ebuyer for £71 delivered last week.

Considering it's equal to the 7800gtx 256mb in performance, it's probably worth less than £60.

Is it worth going second hand is the question perhaps?

    The xfx at ebuyer.

Seems it went up by a few quid since. Also not currently in stock, quite possibly not ever again judging by Ebuyer's "stock overdue", best to ask them though.

There's the innovision one at ebuyer for £77 delivered though.

Not sure if it's as good (or better?) than the XFX one. XFX 'apparently' use better components, not sure if there's any truth in that. What is true though is that their RMA service is shocking.

For what it's worth my XFX one seems to clock quite nicely. Seemed to be doing about 625/1570 on just coolbits' detect optimal frequencies thing, although that caused artifacting in atitool's checker.

Using the find core on atitool brought it past 600mhz before i stopped it (I've blown too many graphics cards in my time). And past 1600mhz on the memory before i stopped it. Both done whilst the other was at default.

Not a great deal to be honest... I wouldn't do it for £80.
