I'm thinking of investing in a 27" monitor for my gaming PC and 360 - namely the Dell 2707WFP or Samsung 275T. I like the idea of having the larger viewing screen over a 24" but not requiring the graphics super power of a 30". Anyone have a 27" monitor, any recommendations, comments etc?

Must admit I am looking for a 27" LCD but mainly for photo work which is a different criteria. If games is your main interest you could consider the ViewSonic VX2835wm.

Prices on 26"+ TFTs are steadily dropping and a lot of new models are on the way so its probably best not to rush in at this point.
Are you playing on a 24" at the moment? Just wondering as I'm using my 360 on a Dell 2407 and it's great. Really happy with the size, but then I'm only sat a couple of feet away from it. I'd say it feels just as big as using it on my 42" LCD downstairs, which I find myself having to lean forward all the time while playing.

I'm only interested in using it for gaming, I have been mandated to remove the 360 from the living room, apparently it interferes with the copious amounts of big brother watching that she wants to do.
Currently playing on a 32" TV and I have a 22" for the PC - I like playing the 360 because of the larger screen dimension and would like to replicate the same experience in my gaming room. I did consider another HDTV but figured with a larger screen monitor I could kill two birds with one stone.
I read a couple of reviews of 27"-ers on trusted reviews and they seem to be pretty supportive of them - but there's nothing like the opinions of those who actually have one.
Ive got this monitor(2707wfp), its very good for movies, and excels in that area. For games Ive only played counter strike source and it doesnt have any input lag. You do have to turn on V-sync though to stop the tearing which is more obvious on this monitor than the sony g520 CRT that I was using previously. With a fast game such as CS source there is slight motion blur, but I can live with it. Overall, I made a compromise with the image quality for this monitor just because I loved the aluminium bezel and I wanted the extra inputs for other games consoles and things. If your more concerned with image quality in games there might be better monitors out there for you but they might not look as good (design wise).
Also I have found that the monitor does have some backlight bleed in the lower left and upper right corners. Ill be contacting the people I bought it from to get a replacement (Ive only had it 5 days).

@demonwolf - thanks man. So its safe to say that you're pretty happy with the Dell apart from the backlight bleed (which from the pic doesn't seem that bad imo)?
I'll give Dell a call today and see how low they will go on one of these.
Im very happy with the monitor, especially with movies, Ive got a number of 1080p HD trailers and they look amazing, the colours are rich and the blacks are very good.
I'm planning on getting a 27" monitor as well soon, so I'm reading with interest. The only one I can find available currently in the UK is the Dell and there are very few reviews of it.
The dell doesn't support 1080p on its inputs so this is pretty much a deal breaker for me - I see no reason for the monitor not to support 1080p since it has the resolution :confused:
I'm going to have to put this on the back burner until Samsung get their 27" to market.
I think it would be nice for the monitor to be able to be a 1080p tv as well, but it's not essential for me.
I did read that you can use VGA with an xbox on the dell 27":I've found the samsung 275t available in the UK: http://www.komplett.co.uk/k/ki.aspx?sku=334740. I don't know if that does 1080p tbh. Don't know if it's worth the extra £150 either, it does have the dynamic contrast feature over the dell, but I don't know how much better that makes it if at all in real terms. I'd feel a lot more comfortable with the Sammy - personal preference over a Dell really, if it can do 1080p then the single stock unit at Komplett is sold :)
I prefer the look of the dell.
Mind you the samsung may be better due to the 3000:1 dynamic brightness. I would lean more toward the samsung it if was the same price. Has anyone got one yet?
Well I went for the samsung 275T and it's a lovely thing to own. :)
