9800se TV Problems!
Hiya,
I have the 9800se AIW and have all the necessary software installed for it to work but it doesn't!? All I get is a load of fuzziness! I have tried re-tuning but that doesn't do anything. I can see the picture for a split second when I change channel but then it disappears!
I have searched and searched on the internet for a solution but the only thing I have found is to change the cable standard under setup to Norfolk Islands! This works but I then get the sound in mono! I have the latest drivers, the latest MMC and the latest DirectX 9.0b but still it doesnt work!
I have even emailed ATI but the only email I got back was a automated one telling me to read there FAQ's.
Any Help would be great
Thanks

When you changed the cable standard to Norfolk Islands, what did you change it FROM?
-
I changed it from 'United Kingdom' as that is where I live.

most tv cards are mono only i dont know if thats for the ati AIW cards though
-
Nooooooo, dont tell me the damn AIW cards are in mono only!!!!! Wouldve thought they'd be at least stereo by now.
My yonks old hauppauge card does more than that
-
Don't worry, AiW's are stereo ....
-
doesnt stero depend no the tv channel anyway? .. my card is mono i think, its not an aiw though
-
There is a hotfix for this from microsoft - check either at the ATI website or rage3d aiw thread - i had same probs - it is something to do with directx 9b - don't worry the hotfix will fix it!! :p

Thanks. do you know whether there is a fine tuning feature? Or can you download a seperate program to do this?
Thanks

I also had this issue and found that if you BREAK out of the tuner configuration immediately AFTER it scans and finds the channels (just close the windows down) that it does in-fact store them properly - it's also possible to then add channels later just but ticking the channel number box in the TV tuner config screen.
This card in a nightmare to install and configure properly - if you want the full features and not just a cheap 9800pro!
