    Samsung 226BW/CW 22inch vs Dell 24inch - £200!

    Ok guys... Simple question.

Is the Dell 2407WFP-HC simply worth £200 more for it's measly 2 inches (and I don't care what your wifes/girlfriend say). Please post reasons

I'll be using the monitor for mainly Office/Web Browsing/Xbox 360

Well, the 226BW cant do 1080p, where as the Dell can. The 226BW is limited to 720p. So thats a consideration, especially as you'll be using the 360 on it.

Inputs is also another thing to consider. What do you need/want?
    - 226BW has DVI and VGA
    - 2407 has DVI. VGA, S-Video, Composite, Component, 4x USB ports and a 9in2 card reader

Depends if thats worth an extra £200 to you. Looking at what you want to do and if you have the money, the Dell would be a better choice. Its just a better panel all together

I'd like to add that we just purchased the Samsung at work. I'm very happy with the quality of this screen. After calibration it looks stunning. It's great value for money and would defiantly consider buying one for home.

How ever the Samsung cant do 1080i and i have to say that does put me off a bit. I'm waiting to see if Apple refresh their range in the next week. But it's not going to be cheap....

Perhaps it is not just another £200. You also have to ask yourself if your graphics card is man enough to fully exploit all the 1080p goodness of the Dell.

Yes, it is well worth it, the samsungs (TN) image quality pales compared to the Dell panel (VA). I have used both and I would say the dell wins, also if your gfx card cannot handle games at 1080p the dell has full aspect and 1 to 1 pixel mapping scaling options over DVI so you shouldnt need to worry about that. The looks better and the stand is superior as well.

I have a 206BW which is essentially the same as the 226. Once calibrated it's excellent (not going into the SvA panel debate). There was a huge thread over at HardForum with regards to the 226, however, if you want a fully flexible mutli-media monitor with 1080p goodness then you have to pay the extra £££ and I very much doubt you would be dissapointed with the Dell.

check here for a thread specifically on the dell at HardForums. They are just getting their mits on this monitor so in the coming days/weeks there should be more info.
