Ive got an 8800GTX and want to use my HD tv to play games on, watch movies etc but I can only seem to use 1024x768 resolutions even though the tv supports 1080i and 720p.
Is there a way to get the pc to output in HD format? (My tv doesn't have DVI, only VGA and HDMI)
Within the drivers there should be an option to output widescreen HD signals. Probably the best way of connecting the card to the TV would be through the use of a DVI to HDMI cable.
I'd rather stick to DVI to VGA as my PS3 occupies the HDMI port and the Xbox 360 uses the rgb ports...

If your HDTV has component then I would recommend getting one for your 360, as this will let you play the 360 on HD opposed to SD and will looke a heck of alot better.
It does have component, thats the word I was looking for!

You don't appear to mention what HDTV you're attempting to connect to. Unfortunately not all TVs handle a PC signal the same, so it's difficult to advise on how to resolve the situation without that information.
The problem with using the VGA connection on your tv, is that these connections are generally limited to pre-defined standards computer resolutions, such as VGA, SVGA, XGA etc... This means that if your machine has a vertical resolution of 768 (irrespective of it's horizontal resolution), you'll be limited to 1024x768.
Your HDMI connection is likely to be more flexible, but would introduce more problems such as overscanning, as it's generally suited for video connections rather than a direct 1:1 mapping from a PC.
Have you tried something like Powerstrip (http://entechtaiwan.com/util/ps.shtm) to obtain custom resolutions? You may be able to force a resolution of 1366x768 over the VGA connection using this software.
Well ive used an xbox 360 over vga before on my tv and it displayed 1080i just fine. The TV is a Hitachi 32" hdtv
How about a HDMI or Componant splitter? then you have all three on true HD resolutions

I recommend the J.S. Technology Master Component Controller. It takes 2 rgb signals and will swap between them as you can set one as a master which wil over-ride the slave signal.
An HDMI switch would be better, as you'd keep the signal digital, but I have no experience of those. Also, chekc out www.widescreengamingforum.com (I think) for help on setting up any games you want to play that don't support ws natively.
