    2900XT Auto-Underclock?

    I got a GeCube 2900XT and a Corsair HX620.

In the Catalyst control centre, it says that the core is running at 507mhz and the memory at 514mhz- an underclock of 25%.

I am sure this is becuase I only have two 6-pin connector attached to it, however, I don't know if this is normal behaviour for it.

    Is this normal?

I am going to order an 8-pin connector anyway, but I want to know if there could be something wrong with my card.

    Thanks.

I assume you mean, does the clock increase when in 3D mode?

I ran the CS:S stress test and alt-tabbed back to the control centre. The clocks were the same.

Well they would be, as you were back in 2D mode at the time. CS:S minimised doesn't use 3D.

(I was having overheating issues with my card due to the Zalman heatsink really not being at all tolerant of having nearby cards, so I've been through this myself when finding out what was causing my issues.)

IIRC you do need 6+8 connectors to OC with the bundled software. I think if you OC with Rivatuner 2 you can do it with 6+6. Also there is a mod on the net (google for it) that lets you use the Catalyst software with 6+6 if you short the 2 extra pins to ground.

It has been mentioned Corsair want $28 for packaging and handling to send out your 'free' updated connectors. My HX620 arrived from Scan last week with 2 of the 6+8 leads in the bag but then you probably didn't need to know that. Hope you get sorted soon.
Apparently, "Do whatever you like" should NOT be considered authorisation to build my uber rig!

I would contact GeCube direct and ask the question or approach the original supplier. GeCube are pretty good at getting back by email, used in the past.

What is the 'requested' speed in the overclock panel? This will show the actual speed in 3d mode.
