Edge10 died
Typical after my praise of my cheapo 17" edge10 monitor the other day, last night when I tried to turn my pc and there's no responce from the edge10 :(
It's not comming on, no responce from the power button.
Turned it off at the wall (well my belkin surge protected powerstrip) leave it for 5min and turn it on again. I seem to remember it doing this once before but this fixed it last time, but not this time.
Turn the power back on, the green on light comes on for a second then just goes out, pressing the on/off button does nothing.
Getting nothing at all from the screen, no "no imput detected"
Still dead this morning, I've had it just over a year (bought from microdirect) so I called up edge10 as this monitor came with a 3 year onsite warranty (one of the reasons I chose it ;) ) it's time to test there RMA process.
Got through to a nice lady on the Customer Service desk who took some details, asked my what the problem was, after I explaned she said they would do a swap out, however they don't have any instock currently, said they will call me back in a couple of days when they've got some in.
Edge10 RMA process so far so good, I'll update later when they call me back (or by next friday where they'll have an annoid phone call if I've not heard from them :telephone: )
Here's to hopeing it all goes well and now I'm going to have to dig out my old 19" CRT from the cupboard. :crazy: it's going to take awhile.

Just hope they don't do a 'sorry, we no longer stock that model, have 1/3rd of your money back as a refund taking into account the usage you've had of the monitor already'..

Well they still list it on the website as a current product and it's only 14months old.
PS this is through Edge10 the manufactors not, MicroDirect who I bought it from, as it's over a year old.
And I'm not sure you can legally do that anyway as a warranty is a contract, have to check the full details on the warranty, for clauses.

Be thankful its over a year old, dealing with MD RMA is a test of patients.

Well it's been a week now and no responce :(
So I phoned them up to give them a prod :handbag:
Must say there's no hanging about in a phone que, which is good, however it's still out of stock, the nice lady said that there's a few others waiting for more stock, she'd flag my RMA for attention and they should have some in next week.
She also offered me the option of sending it to them for repair instead, but warned me that that might take longer.
I've decided to wait, if they've still not got back to me by the end of next week I'll probably risk the repair option. :undecided

Well I've finally got my swap monitor. :)
It looks like a new one not a refurb, no marks or damage but there is a electrical safty sticker on the back.
Just ran it through a dead pixel test and a few power cycles. All seems to be working fine :D
Ok it took a while untill they a swap out unit in stock and that is my only major complaint with Edge10s RMA process.
Pritty damb good for what was at the time a barginbucket tft monitor. :)
