here's a thread about it being *really* hot and loud! http://forums.hexus.net/showthread.php?t=112472

Save some cash and just get a pro. A pro will play pretty much any DX9 game fine plus u can stick £20-30 into your pocket (on into a pub ) Alternatively have a look on ebay, people are getting rid of DX9 cards for stupid money atm

There's someone on eBay that's selling both 256 and 512Mb versions, but not sure how trustworthy they are...

If you're trying to cool it to 60 at load then of course it's loud. It's happy at 70-80 and then it's quiet. Don't use rivatuner, let the fan's own software do the work.

Think a tiny bit if you can.
Of course cost is a factor.....but its not the be all and end all.

Take a top of the range Merc and a bottom of the range Merc.
Although still expensive, the bottom range one is the 'budget' model as its the lowest in the range.

Just because something is expensive doesn't mean it cant be the budget one! Comparison????????

    Re: X1950XT vs X1950Pro

I agree with Blitzen. The term 'budget' can be applied to quality as well, if that's what the audience understand, especially as he qualified it with 'in terms of performance'. It's as if he were saying "this PSU performs as well as PSUs that are using the cheapest of designs/components/build quality, aka budget PSUs".

    Re: X1950XT vs X1950Pro

Going back to availablility, I've been told by eclipse that the XT is out of stock but they are expecting some more in early next week. Saying that, eBuyer said they were getting more in at the end of last week, then told me it had been discontinued.

Looks like the only one available is the HIS Turbo one, but that's getting into 8800 territory, price-wise.

You're not the sharpest tool in the box, evidently.
