    PC to LCD TV?

Hi, I have a Hyundai HLT-3270 32 inch HD Ready LCD TV that I want to connect my PC. The TV has the following connections:
    1. DVI (DVI-I) which accepts a TMDS or HDCP signal
    2. PC RGB (D-Sub 15 pin)
    3. SCART (full)
    4. SCART (half)
    5. S-VHS
    6. Component Input (Y, Pb, Pr) 480, 480p, 720p, 1080

My Computers graphic card is a 640mb NVidia 8800 GTS with 2 DVI connections.

What is the best way to connect my PC to this TV? I have tried DVI and it only seems to give me 1028 x 720. Can I get a high resolution if I were to by a DVI to component lead? Thanks for any help.
    System Specs - OCZ Modstream 520W, P5B Deluxe, 4Gb OCZ 6400, E6600@ 3.6Ghz, Audigy sound card, XFX 8800GTS XXX 640mb graphics card.

DVI all the way. Just try to set proper resolution through graphics drivers. You maybe would need to make a custom one.

Thanks for the reply CooperXS, How do I make a custom setting?

BTW. In the the TV manual, under specifications, RGB input format, It states that it is capable of 1280x1024 (SXGA?) but no mention of how to select that res. The res does not show on my graphics card panel and I know its capable of that and higher.

Have you tried looking in the Nvidia control panel in control panel? Im sure there are some things you can use to get the settings right in there

Thanks, I will take a look, but to be honest, the only way I usually change is the refresh rate is by using right click and desktop res.

    Re: PC to LCD TV?

Sorry, perhaps I should have been a little clearer. When I right click/properties/settings, there are no other res options the only one there is 1024 x 768. When I use my 19" TFT I can select everything from 800 x 600 upto 1280 x 1024.

The instruction book say I can get the following resolutions:

    RGB input format

    640x480 - VGA

    800x600 - SVGA

    1024x768

    1280x960

    1280x1024 - SXGA

The problem is I dont know what connections I am supposed to use to get the above res.

Thanks for the help so far.

    Re: PC to LCD TV?

1366 x 768 is the res you want really. Thats what I run on my Hyundai LCD.

Have you tried adding a custom res in the nvidia control panel?

this is due to a failure of technology called EDID.

EDID allows a monitor to broadcast information about the resolutions it supports down the wire - which is how Windows knows a "plug and play monitor" can only do XxY resolution.

in my experience, all LCD TVs have incorrect EDID information - fr'example, the maximum res my Samsung HDTV identifies itself as capable of is 1024x768, even though the manual says I should use 1360x768

you should be able to create a custom modeline in windows somewhere (i know it's in modern versions of the nvidia control panel)

This EDID problem has been noted in quite a few Hyundai models over DVI. Notably the A321. Hyundai offered a free return to them for an EDID update that allowed full res selection, but not sure if they offer that on Yan816's model.

Luckily, my Hyundai finds everything from 800x600 to 1366x768, so I just set the slider to 1366x768.

In the short term, if you're desperate for a decent res, then connect to it via vga. Im sure that will give you full res option i.e. 1366x768.
