Ok I have a 9600Pro 128Mb on windows XP Pro 32bit with the latest Catalyst drivers and I am getting a very strange issue with my icons all being blurry, also the font is hard to read on some windows but not others. Before I installed the ATi drivers the picture was perfect when windows was using the generic VGA driver.

Try an old set of drivers if you can - something like 5.12s. Never seen that before. :\
I will give it a go when I get home from work, its a really odd problem, I agree.

Ok I have just realised that the S3 Savage gfx drivers were still installed, I have removed them and the ATi drivers and will try another fresh install, I hope it works.
It did not
I am now going through all the Shuttle drivers and updating them, hopefully the VIA 4in1's will do the trick, nope
I have also updated the BIOS as well. The only thing that seems to sort of work is going into Display, Advanced, Troubleshooting and moving the slider to the left, obviously its not much use as nothing works but it does fix the blurry icons, but no DX stuff works. I really have no idea why its being such a pain.

Ok so I tried everything including a fresh windows install and still it did not work. I decided to go out and buy a new ATi Radeon 9550, installed and it works fine. That means my $23 bargain Radeon 9600 was not such a bargain after all.

9600 should work fine on XP.
Uninstall windows display drivers in safe mode and all other display drivers and reboot then install the latest ATI drivers which are 7.8 and that should fix it.

I think it's fair to say the card is broken if a 9550 is working fine. I can't understand how it's broken if some things work perfectly fine and others have corruption, but there you go. It is strange. Was it working in games or in anything 3D (I realise it's hardly a gaming card now, but I presume it has been at some point)?
I tried running Mediaportal and it just looked nasty, as did video files. The 9550 seems up to the job as a media centre card though so all is good.
