Anyone using ACER monitors?
Just wondered.
I have a fair pile of Argos vouchers to spend, and as I can't find a small LCD TV for my bedrom that I like, I thought I'd get a new monitor for my PC.
Anyone use ACER monitors? I wouldn't buy one of their laptops, but the monitors might be ok.
Any ideas?
Re: Anyone using ACER monitors?
Well, the monitor in front of me right now is my Acer AL1721 17", I've had it for around two years and I can't fault it (CS: Source + BF2 and others look great on it).
Also my home laptop is an Acer 4151, had it for two and a half years or so. It's no powerhouse but I'm very happy with it :)
Re: Anyone using ACER monitors?
ah i've heard some good reviews but depends on the model, some of them are said to have alot of problems with ghosting

Re: Anyone using ACER monitors?
i have had a few of the 19'' widescreen and for the money i like them alot. not the best on the market etc etc but for price i think they beat any video7 etc
Re: Anyone using ACER monitors?
Have one at work, 17" image looks very sharp. I don't know how about gamin. I heard Philips make quite good screens, and NEC aswell.
Video7 one at work and I'm really disappointed.
Re: Anyone using ACER monitors?
I have an old 15" Acer with my second pc and it developed a line of dead pixels about 3 years in (5 years old now). Still working overall though.
Re: Anyone using ACER monitors?
It depends on the model.
Some are nice and come with decent panels, some are utter tripe.
Re: Anyone using ACER monitors?
I have an Acer AL1716 TFT, think i paid over a hundred quid for it over a year ago, other than a red dot which was there when it arrived i have had no problems with it. and the red dot, sorry i have forgotten the technical term is only noticeable if i look for it and quite common with TFT's i think.
so thumbs up from me
Re: Anyone using ACER monitors?
got AL1714 here got cheap from wifes old work seems sharp must be about 3year on no dead pixels
Re: Anyone using ACER monitors?
Bought an Acer AL1716 around this time last year and I hate it. So much so I moved it to someone elses desk ;)
It came with the added bonus of at least 15 dead pixels after I requested the "staff" in Argos to check it before I took it home. The upside is I managed to undead them with some massaging and flicking.
Quality/colours etc aren't a patch on my 3 HP L1706. With XP the Acer is passable, with anything lower its ghosting, and far from sharp.
Re: Anyone using ACER monitors?
I have dual screen acer lcd's, budget monitors from argos, cant fault them.
Re: Anyone using ACER monitors?
Mine just died it seems, 20" widescreeen acer about 2 years old. No longer displays anything just black. :(
Re: Anyone using ACER monitors?
I have a Acer AL1916W, which is a 19in widescreen at 1440*900 and although i dont use it for movies etc, i use it mainly for gaming (FPS) and personally I have had no problem with it. I am tempted to get the 24" variant of it, but one thing to note is that there isnt usually a DVI on some of the models, but this means that they are very competitively priced. And no - i havent really thoght, oh its on a DSUB, this look blurry.
In short they are good value, average quality monitors - oh, and IMO they are styled quite well.

Re: Anyone using ACER monitors?
I have 2 of those AL1916W and they're just great for everything.. VGA out only, but AFAIK, its as good as the Viewsonic I have on the side with DVI..
I got the 24 incher for the office, its a very good panel for a very good price.. practically 1/2 the price of a 2407.. yet I dont really see any difference with those Dell panel.. (well.. probably I was really comparing it to a Dell 2007 so its not entirely fair)
