Well strangely enough the only way you can run FSAA is by forceing it at a driver level, face it they don't want you to run FSAA.
Although I'm not really that surprised as FSAA basically works by rendering each frame multiple times then layering the resaults together. As such it can have a major impact on performance.
I only run in 1280x1024 and don't even notice the lack of FSAA.
I did notice it or the lack of (most in games I happly run at 1280x1024 FSAAx2) but only when I looked for it.
Most of the time the lack of FSAA is hidden in the gloom, I do hope we're not going back to the days of haveing to turn up the gama on every game just so you can see to play it.
I don't know what you call "high resolution" but my 2405FPW runs at 19X12 and I always use AA.
The screen shots on page 1 of the article show why, the jagged edges of the table, and the stairs, make the scene less realistic.
It's true the jaggies get smaller as resolution goes up, but they don't go away.
I guess the point is: why would you want a card that doesn't give you the option in a usable fashion if you're considering buying a XT or a GTS?

They should have used shader based AA (he says, not knowing the details). Notice how as soon as you die in the game (he says, this time speaking from experience, lots of it) all the jaggies go away as it gradually blurs the image.
