Twin Nvidia Graphics Cards / Intel Chipset Motherboard

This is a seemingly simple question I cannot find an obvious answer to...

Can two Nvidia graphics cards (say 8800GTS's) be used in an Intel chipset based mother board with 2 x 16 PCI-E slots?

This would be for multiple monitors and not SLi which I know is not supported.

I can't give you any absolute verification, but it should work. Windows has it's own subsystem for dealing with multi-head setups.

Yes, they can be. In fact, with the right drivers you can SLi a lot of them as well.

I didn't think you could SLi on a crossfire motherboard.
you will be able to use two graphics cards for the multiple headers, although only the card in the first slot will be running at pci-e x16, the other will only be pci-e x4 (when not crossfire or SLi)
However unless your gameing then you will not be pushing the graphics hard enough to notice any differnce between x16 and x4

Without knowing what board he has, you cannot say the second card will run at 4x....a number of boards will run the second card at 8x

Plus there are hacked drivers allowing SLi on crossfire motherboards, proving that its all a marketing gimmick.
