Swapping stock GPU fan for custom passive setup....

..is it possible, if so how ? If not, how can I quiet/slow the stock fan down if I needed to ?

You can use a program called Rivatuner to create fan profiles for you card, that should quieten it down. www.guru3d.com have a good guide on how to do it.

As for using a passive setup, it depends on the card you're putting it on and how good your case airflow is.
