anyone know when we can expect DirectX 10 compatable video cards in the AGP format and what company is making them? Thanks.

I doubt you'll see any to be honest.
it is highly unlikely, i think there is a restriction too due to the general speed of AGP over PCI-E

good old ASRock 4core dual-vstaIt can take up to a 8800gts, great step by step upgrade motherboard

AGP does not have the bandwith to sustain a full DX10 card. It could probably handle a low end DX10 card, the type that are so poor they can't really handle DX10.
I really doubt they will bring out an AGP DX10 card and if anyone does it will be way way overpriced.
as the above said the ASRock board is worth a look if you want to keep your current AGP card for now.

AGP cards produced now dont actually contain a straight AGP bus, thats why they're more expensive than their PCI-E counterparts. A modern AGP card is just the PCI-E equivalent with some converter hardware to take it to AGP.
That being said, I'd like to reiterate a previous point and ask, what is the need for an AGP DX10 Card?
I think the launch of 8600 AGP cards starts in November can't remember who is making them but Galaxy seems to ring a bell.
There are still alot of agp systems out there and a lot of potential sales to be had
whether this is just another rumour who knows http://www.digitimes.com/mobos/a20070904PD209.html

You can currently get ATi HD2400Pro's in AGP but I wouldn't want to game on them . . .

PDF list of Ati HD2000 series cards looks like there's HD2600XT's out there in AGP
I couldn't find any for sale, but I did find a 2600Pro 512mb agp, on Ebuyer
Cheers for the replies guys, I've just bought an AGP X1950 Pro and it's fine for the moment if I'm honest. Have read about the latest games being DX10 compatable and just wondered if any DX10 AGP cards were out as I need to buy a new AGP card for the wifes PC so thought about upgrading but there's nothing really out there that would offer me a big performance boost. I had read last month that AGP DX10 cards were planned to be manufactured but not read or heard anything since.
So this ASRock 4COREDUAL-VSTA is a dual core mobo with an AGP slot? Wow, great idea, I take it folks that have bought them are happy with them? Maybe I'd get a performance boost from swapping out my old socket 478 ASUS P4c800-E Deluxe and P4 3.4Ghz CPU for one of these boards and a good Dual Core CPU instead??
It's getting harder to find a ASRock 4COREDUAL-VSTA, but it's socket 775, takeing 1066mhz cpu's up to the quad core q6600, AGP and Pci-e (only x8 pci-e but it not that noticable) 2 sticks of DDR or DDR2 memory up to pc5400 667mhz (I've got some pc6400 in mine, it works but I have to run it underclocked at 667mhz)
two IDE ports, 4 sata ports +Raid
Only complaints,
1- it's not great for overclocking (fsb generally caps out at 280mhz)
2- only has 1 additional fan header, 1x 4pin cpu & 1x 3pin system fan

yeah the 4COREDUAL-VSTA has been replaced by the 4COREDUAL-SATAII ..... still got agp and pci-e on the board

Is it not a case of the AGP Interrupts don't run in step with new CPU technology, which would then force manufacturers to put converters on the mainboard to compensate pushing the price up?
Any AGP on a faster duel core machine would also be a serious bottleneck.
Just my opinion
Life is like Computing, just when you get it all working properly, Bits need replacing
