    GFX Overclocking software

I was wondering what the best programs are for putting strain on your gfx and also to tune it eg. increase mhz and pci-e bus speeds.

I have nvidia and I know that the ntune application does a pritty good job but I dont like it personally.

    I am looking for

    1. A program that controlls all fan speeds in pc independently of anything else.
    2. A program that maxes your gfx card to put it understrain
    3. A program that allows you to tweak / overclock your gfx card that isnt nTune.

Thanks, I have a 8800GTS by the way

ati tools does a great job on my stock 7900gs. The artifact tester is good, but the 'find max settings' option was a little ambitious for my liking...

Ozone3d is a small app that'll work out your graphics card. See more in THIS thread.

3DMark06 is another benchmarking programme that'll put your graphics card under strain. See HERE

Yes. I personally prefer Rivatuner, thats more aimed towards nvidia when it comes to advanced tweaking. If you just want to overclock and monitor temps, the either will do

    Re: GFX Overclocking software

I use ATITool on my 8800GTX - found it easier to use and understand than RivaTuner. My OC is automatically applied 2 mins after windows boots.
Try to make each and every day the best it can be.

    Re: GFX Overclocking software

I tried out atitool and got an error message saying it couldnt detect any ati cards, I uninstalled and am using powerstrip for the timebeing. Waiting to get a new cooling block before I try any serious overclocking.

Can you do damage if you attempt an overclock while the card is still young, ive only had it a week I was thinking of burning it in for a bit.

Ask your self, is your card doing everything you requre of it at the moment, if it is why overclock?

yes , yes I know you do it because you can

but if you are unsure of what you are doing, it may well be worth waiting until you feel more confident, or have gained more knowledge.
Overclocking is great, but can be very tricky and one mistake can be fatal. (to your hardware & not you obviously )

    just a thought
Life is like Computing, just when you get it all working properly, Bits need replacing

    Re: GFX Overclocking software

i did have ATI tool, did the "find max core clock" thingy and the "max memory" and it broke it, well not broke but it runs at stock cos now when i overclock it by even 1MHz it just stops and freezes on games, iit was muffed up a lot of peoples card (from what people have said on here) personnally rivatuner does the job just fine for OCing

    Re: GFX Overclocking software

yeah fair comments everyone, my card is running all games perfectly, I mean I only need 72hz constant as my monitor doesnt support higher so overclocking wouldnt really do much point. It was as you say phillikon "because you can!"

I am getting better cooling for the quad core tho as I have found that alot of the time all 4 processors aint running, so im basically on 2.4ghz which isnt as fast as I would like. Prob get it to 2.6 -2.8 and thats an extra 15% or so for free and I really doubt is going to kill the core. Just bought a scythe air ninja heat sink that looks like its about to conquer extraterrestrials, and with my windowed case will be quite something.

First buy off scan to so ill see what everyones raving about.
