Looking for a temporary Vid card upgrade...

    Hello guys!
I currently have an ATi Radeon 7500 video card and I wanted to upgrade to a sub-$100 video card until next year when I'll get a kick-ass one. I am looking at the Geforce4 Ti-4200 and I have found a few under $100. There is the BFG ASYLUM GEFORCE4 TI4200 AGP 4X 128MB DDR for $79, the VISIONTEK XTASY TI-4200 AGP 2X/4X 128 MB DDR video card FOR $99, or the LEADTEK AGP 4X 128 MB TI-4200 FOR $91. I will not spend 1 penny over $100. I think that the 4200 is the best sub-$100 card out there....But if anyone has any suggestions, I'm open. BTW, I'm using this card to play HL2 and HALO, but mainly WCIII. I was also thinking...would ebay be a good place to buy this?

    Thanks,
    Drummerdude.

yeh its either the 4200 or 9600 if u want dx9 support. but as u plan on getting a really high end one next year then its best to spend as little as u can on a 4200 and put the rest towards the 'next big thing' so to speak.

Is the 4200 comparable to the 9200 series?

iirc the 4200 is faster than the 9200 in terms of raw power but does not support dx9 in hardware as the 9200 does.

sum1 feel free to correct me if im wrong.

no gfx card under $100 is gonna be awesome its just not the way it is im afraid.

I know, I got overexcited about the awesome thing....but in your opinion, 9200, 9200 SE, OR TI 4200?

definitely Ti4200. will run most of the games available now well. may struggle with HL2/etc tho, but HL2 at least will be playable just not at full settings.

I was under the impressions that the 9200 doesn't support DX9? Only DX8.1?

I changed my mind...I qon't get HL2 unless they make Counter-Strike 2...soooo.. If there are any WCIII vets, would the ti4200 let me do a 4v4 with everyone fighting
and let me watch the battle?
