Lucoms monitor

Right, decided that I don't really need a widescreen job (I have a 17" second monitor) so decided to get a 19" one (I prefer the pixel size - it's me age!).

This looks good, although I can't find any reviews on it:

BTW, did find one site that said Scan had a zero dead pixel policy on this monitor!

The first line of the blurb is a clue to it
Lucoms is the Hi-End Brand of Daewoo

I found the scan dead pixel policy which is good, although that said dead pixels are very rare on the smaller tft's these days (under 20")

The 700:1 contrast isn't great but for that price more than livable ;)

EDIT: one you might to consider is the LG 1919S, Scan haven't got it :( and ebuyer are sold out :( Amazon have got it but at £149.30
Might want to consider the LG L1900R @ £163 from scan as well.

I have 17" model of the Lucoms. It's a nice model with a rotational feature. The base is metal so it heacy and sturdy. Theres also a button where you can switch easily between analogue and digital connections.

It's quite a bright monitor but the backlight is een throughout. The only problem I know is that blacks are not 'pitch black', which I learnt is how tfts are in the dark (having switched over from a Trinitron tft and only use tfts in offices with lots of lighting.) I was well peeved off with this monitor at the start but after some adjustments I found it's a great unit.

Mine had one stuck pixel but it is not noticable. I can only see it if I run the monitor calibration tool.
I found the buttons not so good to press and menu not the bst but functional.

Yes, I used various terms in searching; even found the manufacturer's site.

That policy seems to be general, not specific to this monitor.

The first one hasn't DVI; the second has no speakers.

I was interested in a Viewsonic, but the 3-year warranty is return to base.

My current one has some streak going across it and, when warmed up, a column of small bright 'bubbles' up the LHS (opening a Command window and moving it around is a simple way of seeing some faults).

No experience of the widescreen, but gf has a Lucoms normal ratio 17" and it's faboulous. Better quality than my LG-samsung unit.
