Re: Dell 2407WFP or 2407WFP HC Monitor...Please Help Me Decide!!

The A04 is the last revision of the Non 'HC' 2407WFP and came out around August time. The new 2407WFP A00 revision has ghosting issues that Dell are apparently unable to do anything about, so no new revision will resolve it (http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/articles...2407wfp-hc.htm) Some comparisson shots of the difference between HC and Non HC can be found here: http://topic.pcpop.com/publish/artic...aspx?id=198337

And I still can't decide which one of the two monitors I should go for

Maybe time to give the BenQ FP241W and the Samsung 245T some serious consideration!!

Yeah Fraz I listed the BenQ as a good alternative, insignificant I know but I just wish it had a black bezel instead of the silver one :/

Well, if I'd known you didn't like silver, I'd have never mentioned it.

i have the dell 2407wfp a04 and i love it ! no backlight bleeding, ghosting or dead pixels, bought it from pcbuyit on ebay with a 3yr warranty.
im currently using the dvi input for my ps3 @ 1080p 1:1 mapped, and using the vga input for my pc to game at 1920x1200. i have never used the other inputs but at least they are there if i need them in the future.
i have been pleased with this monitor since the day i bought it, upgraded from 2x 19" crts - what a difference
i have no experience with the HC model but i cannot say a bad thing about the 2407 a04

I heard good things about the new LG L245WP. It's got all the connections, and it's well priced.

I wrote a bit about the old 2407WFP in this post. Since then, I've found 3 guys at work who own the old 2407WFP, and they all love it. They mainly use them for gaming.

I used to have a very high opinion of Samsung monitors, and I recently bought an SM226BW... which I'm currently trying to return for a refund. There's lots of info online about the problems with the SM226BW, and the underhanded tactics Samsung have used to cover their quality control issues, so I won't go into detail here. Samsung do make great monitors, but I'll never buy another one without testing the exact unit I'm buying.

Funnily enough, I was reading the "World's Best Flatscreens" shootout in November issue of "What Hi Fi?", and the main topic of the Samsung review was the quality control.

Check out post #63 in this thread. Sounds like the HC model ghosting problem might be fixable via settings?
Check GamesTracker for game prices. It's always my first stop.

Re: Dell 2407WFP or 2407WFP HC Monitor...Please Help Me Decide!!

the Dell is far superior to the Samsung, like most cases and in this one too - "you get what you pay for".

I hate the way if someone has something they try to pretend it's better. Fact is the Samsung uses a cheaper TN. The Dell's S-PVA is a far superior panel - which is made by Samsung.

I'm definately not a Dell fanboy, I still own a 19" 913N samsung cheapo thing. But am getting a 24" this months.

Just deciding on which to get.

Dell has the better panel, 1:1 pixel mapping, more connectivity and looks pretty sweet.

The samsung is abit cheaper, doesn't have 1:1 pixel mapping but does look pretty awesome imo.

I'll use my current monitor for music, irc. I'm probably not going to be consistent though and will go for the Dell. Unless there's something i'm missing here?

exactly what is better quality? oh you must be referring to the cheaper TN panel. :forgot:
