TFT response time

Are there any programs out there that can test the response time of a tft monitor?

Only the manufacturers specs will tell you I think, without expensive equipment.

you need a few £££ of equipment, otherwise you just have to believe the manufacturers' lies.

Can you find out what screen is used in a certain laptop, so you could even have a look at the manu's specs?

I have two laptops, a Toshiba and Apple iBook...is there a database?
