Yeah D-Sub and VGA are the same connection, ideally u want a monitor with DVI and D-Sub so both xbox (VGA) and PC (DVI) are connected at the same time, means u wont have to switch between connections everytime u want to use a different device...

    Examples

    This

    or

    This

Re: Widescreen TFT Monitor Help - Does it have VGA input?

    hi,

thanks for the help, so this monitor here:

    Hyundai N220WD 22" LCD TFT, DVI, 5ms, 800:1 Contrast Ratio : hyd-220wd

is that any better?, it says its got 2 d-sub inputs and a DVI input will that run my xbox on a d-sub and my PC on the DVI?

ive only got a vga out thing on my graphics card for the monitor....is that ok to use with a DVI slot?

    thanks

If u only have a vga connection from the gfx card then that monitor is fine as it has 2 vga inputs so pc and x360 can connect, the DVI is seemingly not neede by you but it will mean if you upgrade gfx in future u can connect to the monitor with DVI as all current cards use DVI connectors

Re: Widescreen TFT Monitor Help - Does it have VGA input?

If you are planning on watching movies and tv then a higher contrast ratio would be preferred (the higher the better) this makes blacks blacker and gives you a generally better viewing experience!

    Example
    Samsung SM-226BW V2
    or
    LG L226WTQ

For these you would require a DVI to D-Sub adapter as they only have a single D-Sub input

    Example
    DVI to D-sub

    Just my thoughts

Edit - Just realised you said "value" so that may discount these monitors but personally I would find the extra £25 for one of them!
