8800GTX or 9800GTS
I currently have an Asus 8800GTX for use with a 22" Dell (1680x1050) monitor. I don't have anymore money to spend, or not allot, and I want to know if I should sell it now before it's value drops and use the money to buy a new 9800GTS when they come out. Does anyone have any idea yet if the 9800GTS is likely to be better than my current 8800GTX or should I keep it and start saving for a 9800GTX? The card will be used for Crysis etc. Thanks, Andy.

Re: 8800GTX or 9800GTS
Well...as far as I know, no one knows when the 9000 series cards will be out...I haven't heard of anything anyways. The 8800 GT just came out to replace the 8800GTS and lower cards, and almost competes with the GTX... But you currently have the second best card on the market (behind the 8800 Ultra). Personally, being on a budget myself, I'd keep your card and save up on the side for your next upgrade. I would be suprised to see the 9000-series before this time next year, to be honest. I could be wrong, but I don't see it happening. :)

Re: 8800GTX or 9800GTS
Thanks, that's a very good point about the launch of the GT- I guess the GT is a similar launch to the 7900 cards. With some posts and Custom PC magazine already talking about the 9800 series it just makes me nervous. However, I guess it can/should wait until I have put the GTX through its paces with the full version of Crysis and Unreal Torunament. All the best, Andy.

i would say keep it and see how the 9800 does.

Re: 8800GTX or 9800GTS
The 8800GTX will *EASILY* handle UT3, Crysis is another matter, the DX10 renderer seems very badly implimented, we'll have to see what the full release is like (worst comes to the worst, just run it in DX9 mode with the 'very high quality' mod).

Re: 8800GTX or 9800GTS
keep the 8800gtx and save for a 9800gtx. it will be a while before they are out. 8800gtx will play any game just fine.
