19" monitor recommendation, Asus, iiyama or ... ?

I already have an iiyama 19" monitor and apart from the speaker buzz it's perfect.

My old man wants a new monitor. He has a 19" CRT and wants a 19" TFT instead.

Which of the two in the title would you go for?

    Asus - Today Only - £115 (exc)
    iiyama - £135 (exc)

Price isn't the deciding factor, anything under £150 is an option. It wont be used for "proper" gaming and I'm not sure widescreen is what he needs (or even wants)

    Your thoughts please.

well it seems most monitors are widescreen and yu pay a little premium for older style screen proportions.

try this for cheap and cheerful just £94!
    dabs.com - Dabs Value 19" Widescreen TFT 1440x900 MM 8ms response time and a 3 Year Warranty (L-1931WS)

this one is more expensive, but bigger and with better resolution

Thanks for those links, they're both to the same product though

going from a 19" crt to a widescreen lcd will make it seem smaller. it did for me though, so i passed it on to my mum and im still on my crt till i can get a 22" one at least.

    Bugger

Oh well, I tried to make him get a 22" but he says 19" is his max. I'll enjoy telling him I was right and buying the HP off him for a bargain price so I can have a dual 19" setup.

Look for one of the IPS 19 panels. You can some new ones on Ebay for a decent price if you are patient. Some of the NEC models come to mind.
