need to upgrade my card, which one???

    hi

got a lovely X850 XT PE card but not shadar model 3. need to upgrade but limited budget.

max about £90 inc the cash gained from selling this card i have now.

    X1950 or a cheap dx10 card?

what are the best and what is best for playing bioshock and crysis?

x1950pro is probably your best bet.

8600GT is the only dx10 card in that budget but it's pretty rubbish.

    I agree here
although the 8600gt is not so bad at lower res (your 19"LG is 1440x900 correct?) it's performing around the 7900gs level currently but well below the x1950pro or 7900gt

if you don't care about the rather small amount of extra eye candy of dx10 atm the x1950pro
Or save up a bit and get something better.

The affordable cards are pants at dx10. Cards worth getting for dx10 are £150+.

So a 1950pro is probably the best step, assuming you do need to upgrade now. I would wait and save up a bit more.
    Asus Z170 Pro Gaming. i5-6500. 16gig Ripjaw 2400. Samsung 950pro NMVe 250gig+ 1tb Intel 660p. GTX Titan. Corsair TX650M.

yer, what i may do now is put an extra £50 in the pot and try and get a second hand 8800 GTS 320 card.

    that should play everything hopefully.

Or you could wait a few weeks until the 8800GT prices have reached around the 140 quid mark...like they should be in the first place!!

ATI will releasing some new cards too in the next week which also maybe aroun 150 quid or less.

I would personally wait a few weeks more as why rush and get an inferior and overpriced card now??

My X1900gt overclocked to X1950pro levels was not very smooth even though I was running it under Vista. I will probably try it under XP too to see whether the framerates increase to a reasonable level.

The 8800gt should give you around 30fps on average with the Crysis demo according to the reviews out there!

Re: need to upgrade my card, which one???

Save your money and get an 8800 GT. Hoping to get one in the new year. I stupidly boght an X1950 Pro last week, which turned out to be faulty, so sending it back for a refund. Went back to my X1800 XT after cleaning out all the dust and putting new thermal compound on the cooler it's runs really smoothly now.
