    ATI X1900XT at 1680x1050

I'm contemplating upgrading from my current monitor (17" SONY LCD @ 1280x1024) to a larger widescreen format screen, not that there is anything wrong with it but feel like the extra real estate and a treat for Christmas!
I haven't fully decided on the screen yet, but I have settled on getting something that will be native at 1680x1050. Which should be plenty given I'm don't need to watch TV/Movies on the screen, I have a lovely 40" Samsung in the living room for that.
However I would be interested to hear from any X1900XT owners who run at this resolution, or beyond, as to whether the card is up to the job. Specifically it's the HIS IceQ3 512MB model if anyone just so happens to own one and I tend to overclock it to around 650/740.

    Re: ATI X1900XT at 1680x1050

I've got a X1900XT-256 that's been running 1680x1050 since I bought it this time last year.

Haven't clocked it at all and it's worked a treat with a 4200x2, 4400x2 and now a 6400x2. Only recently has it struggled much, but then again, which card doesn't struggle with some of the higher settings in Crysis?!

    Re: ATI X1900XT at 1680x1050

Thanks for the reply, that sounds most promising. I have tried the Crysis demo at 1280x1024 with everything on max and was getting about 12fps So yes I can imagine it stuggeling somewaht with that, although I think my 3700 (OCed to 2.75 Ghz) is probably holding the card back some.. upgrade penciled in for next year! But sounds like the monitor can go ahead prior to that. Super!

    Re: ATI X1900XT at 1680x1050

I don't play many newer games, but I can run Crysis fine at 1680x1440 (it did struggle at 1920x1200) on XP (so DX9), which surprised me, as most 8800gt owners seem to have to drop down to lower details at that res. It's still a very potent card. Oblivion dropped to around 40fps in the taxing outdoor scenes (1920x1200 with HDR & 4xAF) for me, and CS:S has never had any issues at full details in 1920x1200 (4xAA & 8xAF). Other than that, I can't say anything more about any other games from the past couple of years.

    Re: ATI X1900XT at 1680x1050

I'm on a 1950xt 256mb and it's more than fine at 1680x1050. I play just about every game at max (ok, I use a self-created custom ini file for the crysis demo, but I get all the 'dx10 effects' ).

The additional ram on your card will help it even more.
