Question head spinning here! 8800gts alphadog or scan 8800gtx?

Hi people, need some reviews and assurances on my next gfx card if you could, read up plenty of the new 512 xfx 8800gts alpha dog with its 128 stream processors but still low memory bit rate, and wondering if the 8800 gtx is better, got my eye on the 768 scanfx 8800gtx (is it really a xfx card?) with only £1 difference between the two, but just cannot choose for partially future proof gaming (if there is such a thing!).

I mean the gts has a faster gpu speed and a faster memory speed, but the 768mb has all that memory, and a 384 bit rate, so what counts here??
    Thanx for any replies..

What really matters is the performance not the specs.

The GTX still manages to beat the GTS in most of the benchmarks I've seen which suggests it's the better card. Albeit only slightly in most cases.

Whether the overclocked XFX is better I really don't know. It certainly uses a lot less power and will fit pretty much any case wheX can be a problem.

It wouldn't matter whether the OEM was XFX or not, they are all built in the same factory so it won't make any difference. As it is OEM you will only get 1 years warranty though which may be of a concern.

aah really depends on the size of screen...., i have a 19 inch iiyama 1280x1024 lcd so i wont notice any difference then really?
Plus if i buy a gts i wont have to buy a new psu (got 450w) other than a 700+ one for the gtx.
I have only just learned you have to have vista for dx10 too! Jeez gotta get rid of the xp pro and this 256mb xfx 7800gt which actually did run Crysis on low!!

    Go with the GTS then.

It's only the high resolutions when differences will actually be noticable. Some benchmarks show the GTS actually being better than the GTX at high resolutions.

It's hard to say which is best but neither is wrong. Certainly in your situation with the PSU go for the GTS

All the performance in the GTX's favour is due to the inferior memory interface nVidia opted for the newer GTS.
