    How hot is my 8800GT?

I have a 512MB XFX 8800GT Alpha Dog XXX card. How can I tell how hot it is running? I cannot get this information from the nVidia Control Panel that was installed with the official nVidia drivers. Hence, I assume that there must be a third-party utility to provide this information.

Re: How hot is my 8800GT?

you need nTune to get the temptures
or you could use rivatunner or the ATItool

Re: How hot is my 8800GT?

I just bought one of those from Scan and after reading a few reviews have read that 90C fully loaded is around normal for these cards, however I think I'll be looking into keeping mine a bit cooler than that if I can. I've gained a little experience in GPU cooling especially after seeing my passivly cooled XFX7950GT XXX regularly hitting 113C That thing used to keep my room warm

Re: How hot is my 8800GT?

stock coolers on my cards sits around 60c idle and 90C loaded.. at those temps some games manages to crash.. flakey ones such as Crysis, GoW and UT3 seems to be the main culprit..

Had to rev up the fan (60&#37 to get playable times.. Crysis still manages to crash sometimes.. it got so annoying that I shelled out 60 quid for 2 HR3-GT and now all is solved..

Re: How hot is my 8800GT?

Using RivaTuner w/ my GPU fan running at a constant 100% (which was an accident I can't seem to fix) shows my eVGA 8800GT Superclocked to idle around 41-47c, and peaked at 65c after 15 minutes of the F.E.A.R. demo on highest settings. Then again, I seem to have a pretty cold case...my C2D E6750 CPU overclocked to 3.4 GHz idles between 21-27c, and topped out at 38c while running Super-Pi at 32 million digits. The temps seem to be doing so well, I'm considering overclocking to 3.6 or so; last time I tried it wouldn't boot, but I don't think I upped the voltage enough... *shrug*

Re: How hot is my 8800GT?

Just got my XFX 8800GT XXX Alpha Dog (512MB) and at idle it's at 43C, after half an hour of Crysis or benching its topping out at 55C with an ambient room temp of 20C. Those figures are according to Everest AND a thermal sensor sitting above the GPU.

Re: How hot is my 8800GT?

I got the BFG OC and it idles around 50 and on full load hits 80+, however turning the fan to about 80% with ntune puts it to around 60 under full load

Re: How hot is my 8800GT?

Mine is an Asus EN8800GT, but it's the blue pcb one that doesn't use the stock cooler. Only found that out when it arrived.

Could get no temps whatsoever to start with. Something to do with asus changing the temp sensor or something. The only app that gives a reading is the latest version of their smartdoctor, which gives me 40-43c at idle. I've seen threads on other forums about this specific card and apparently overclocking using the asus software doesn't do anything. fingers crossed for a bios/driver update or something

Not sure whether to trust the temp reading of 40c or not. The cooler isn't the one slot enclosed thing that all the other 8800gt's have, it's a bigger fan I think and completely open. (haven't checked whether I can physically get another card next to it, but the back plate isn't dual slot)

It was for a new build so haven't really had the time to push it yet and work out what the temps at load are. but so far happy with performance. A slight difference from my vanilla 6800!

my bfg 8800gt (standard oc 625/1800 i think) is showing as 68 degrees not good (:

would fitting a thermalright job on it void the warranty and is this easy?

Is that 68C fully loaded? If so that's not so bad. However if that's at idle you may need some better case cooling or circulation as the 8800's vent their hot air into the case unlike some that blow it out of a spare case slot.

Intersting, can I ask if this is the one?

It's the only non-stock cooler ASUS do and it's only mentioned/shown on there 1gb TOP card (top = factory oc)

Re: How hot is my 8800GT?

mine's def a 512mb version but that looks similar to my Asus one - same blue PCB and no big plastic cover over the card which all the other GT's have. Not sure I remember the circle round the fan and the heatsink(??) to the right of it though. I'll have a look tonight.

(case is open at the moment because I've got to send back a hard drive to samsung - plastic bit snapped of the sata connector....)
