Hi
I'm looking for a low profile AGP card - I know this seriously limits what I'm looking for but... any pointers?
Hi
I'm looking for a low profile AGP card - I know this seriously limits what I'm looking for but... any pointers?
I presume this isn't for gaming? An HTPC?
GF6200 or Radeon 9250 is about it really. Something like this is cheap. Dabs and ebuyer seem to have quite a few between them so have a browse.
As above, are you going to htpc or just a general computer?
I have a Asus 128mb 6200 low profile, I tried to sell it in the classifieds forum but nobody was interested so I didn't sell it as I threw away the original bracket. If you're interested you can have it for £15 delivered.
Well, If you ask me, I would go for a Geforce 6800, if you find a 6800 ultra thats even better, these cards do come in AGP and PCIe both, try looking for them and you might get lucky, they will run most games pretty decently, better than any other AGP card atleast.

There are low profile 6800s?
I'm a bit stuck. The 7100GS can't even render 2D MPEGs at 1920x1200, so I can't recommend that for any gaming. The HD2400 isn't that bad, but again I struggle to recommend it for even old games. It's probably the best bet, but you're extremely limited, not least because even if the technology is available to do so, not many manufactures put capable chips into a low profile format. 7300GS or HD2400XT (though I've no idea if there are AGP revisions around) is about as good as you'll get as far as I know.
there are low profile X1550 which will handle games okish.. older games should run fine as well as I have tried CS:S and it works ok..
Me want Ultrabook
I checked up on someone who has an AGP 6800, it works pretty decently, so ill advise you to give it a look.

I'll repeat my previous question. Is it low profile? Cos I'm yet to see one.
As far as I have been able to find out - your fastest option is indeed a 6200. If you had PCI-e you could get a 1650Pro/XT, but as it stands the 6200 is the fastest on AGP. Had the 8400 made it to AGP this may have been a different case!
Sorry friends, I dont know what you mean by low profile, im just talking about a 6800 which is AGP, not PCIe..
