Which has a better potential for running 2d environments, particularly rendering and populating a rather processor intensive database form, an intergrated Intel chip or a HD2400 with 128MB RAM?
I know it sounds silly but I know there's been some big improvements lately in the intergrated chips, but also in the back of my mind, I suspect having a discrete GPU means the CPU can concentrate on sorting the data out as it comes in.

Integrated is taking system memory and as you say leans on the CPU. Discrete will be better at everything I can Imagine.
Integrated accesses system memory, the CPU accesses system memory so they are fighting over a common resource.
Doesn't make a huge difference mind.
