    dual monitor set up

I am just trying out dual monitor and I have come across a small problem, when I launch games my second window resizes and any app on it gets shifted to the right. I am using a 9600XT witha 21" CRT as monitor 1 @ 1600 x 1200 and a 17" @ 1280 x 1024.

basically I wnana be able to see IRC or maybea webpage whilst I play games. any ideas?

resize window 2 to the same resolution as you play games in, or move all yoyr important apps on monitor 2 to the bottom left corner so theyre still visible when it resizes, only way you can do it.

Yup - same problem ... UltraMon doesn't sort it either

You gotta run the program at the same resolution as your desktop or position them on the edge of your main monitor so that they'll end up in the midle of your 2nd when you switch

It all seems to work ok on my PC (i'm using a 9700pro). I can play BF1942 in 1184x854 (or whatever the res is!) and have the secondary in 800x600 and it all works just fine

Maybe it's a graphics card thing? nVidia?

Nah - its the change in resolution that makes the problem!

unreal, that is exactly what mine does, exactly the same with the change in res. it resizes desktop and so screws up second monitor.

dont really wanna run my games as high as 1600 x 1200 but dont wanna drop the res for windows... hummmmm

and witha quick test, set the monitor to 1200 x 1024 what i would play games in and it still does it.
