if i were you, i'd save the cash and put it towrds a better gfx card :)
I would do that...But I'm cheap :-( lol I rather spend $25 to improve the performance of my card than spend $200 on a new card.
but ur hardly gonna improve it mate, as its such a poor card :)
I doubt your going to get any higher speeds out of it with the Vantec tbh.
Unless you're gonna watercool the card, you wont get any more than a few Mhz more out of the core with a fancy cooler :) Only good reason for getting an Iceberq is the bl00 LEDs!
Suman
Chip in an extar $15 and get ureself a ti4200 for $40 if you can. I thinkn that would be the best option if ure short on ure cash...
watercooling is not THAT much better than air, unless a huuuuge rad or some kind of water chiller is used, except for the silence.
with a 10c difference in temps, a chip will o/c by a MAXIMUM of 30mhz more. exception to this is if the chip is overheated, as too much heat will limit the performance and make it unstable.
the only GOOD reson to get BETTER cooling is either for silence, or for the intention of Vmodding. the colder a chip is, the safer it is to use higher voltage.
i suggest a CPU heatsink, try to get an ALL copper one with a decent sized fan, but not too heavy (as you dont want to snap the card in half!). a cpu sink will cost about £5...
getting a cpu hs has one problem though, how do you mount it?... best way imo is to drill holes through it where the mounting holes are in the card, and mount the hs like you would a waterblock.
my 9700 for example. stock cooler got me a max of 340 on core (most i would try due to how hot the back of card got!). 360 was the most i would even try with a zalman. with a vantec iceberg (ver1, slower and quieter than v4) i had to keeep it at 230mhz, though all games still played JUST as fast (as i was playing dx8 games at the time).
with watercooling i could get 405mhz, i expect about 380 would have been possible on air if it didnt die from overheating. with vmods i got it upto 500 but there was slight artifacts (only in 3dm2k3) so i downclocked it to 450 for safety (1.75v - as 500 was 1.95v, VERY high!)
also artic cooling thingy is only £9.99 in pc world which is suppost to be good, check it fits your card though...
