Currently got an 8800GTS 320MB, considering upgrading my card for about £200, is it worth it though?
On the other hand I've currently got 4GB of memory, I could get 4 * 2GB for ~£140 to take my memory up to 8GB, would that be better future proofing?

I personally wouldn't bother with 8GB of memory, just not needed at the moment.
As for upgrading your GTS, that would be the better option of the 2, but why? Is it struggling to perform at the res you want? Going from your GTS, the only cards I could recommend are the 3870x2 or the 512mb GTS. If I were you I wait for the next gen cards.
Your system looks pretty future proof already as far as I can see
I'd save your money until next year, but if you really wanted to blow it...
New flashy case? Sound card and speakers? Cuddly toy? Fondue set?

next year on my side too..
Nothing much to upgrade really..
Me want Ultrabook
wait till the 9800GTS is out, roughly £200 they will/should be. Save the money and buy one of those.
what res do you game at/ want to game at?
there are probably better things to spend your money on later on. The difference is performance would be minimal is you upgraded right now. treat yourself to something else or put the money in a kitty so later you can really splash out!
whats your system spec, if you have too much money and want to spend some it maybe worth spending the money to get an extra drive to raid![]()
I would reccomend waiting for the geforce 9's before upgrading your graphics card.
4 Gb of ram is plenty, you dont need 8 Gb yet and probably wont for another year or two.
I would get a 3870XT and no more ram
if you sell your card for say about £80, the net cost may be only £40
I'd save your money...the 9-series GeForce cards should really start popping up this summer/fall, and Intel has some new processors coming out that look to be pretty wicked (the Nahalan line). The latter will require a new mobo, btw. I'd save your wampum for getting those three things this fall.![]()
I'll hold back then, and spend my money on other stuff.
