first go into safemode and remove the old control panel and ati drivers from add\remove panel

Then run Drivercleaner to clean out the old drivers

    restart and install new drivers
I prefer the Omega customised drivers, give them a try..

Gotta say..ATI drivers are really good at cleaning up after themselves. So I dont even bother going into Safe mode...

I have done it lots and lots and not had grief.

So....Control Panel, Add Remove Programs.....take out BOTH Display Driver AND ATI control Panel....dont bother to restart between removes....just click No, I'll restart later.,...

THEN....once you've done both, re boot....

XP will use default drivers ....then run the new Cat Display Driver install program, once again, dont reboot.....then install Control Panel....

    THEN reboot...

Jobs a good-un.....and dont panic if the drivers are a bit different. I find that after closing down the advanced control panel the screen blanks for a second...its cool. No panic.

    This works for me a treat on 3 different machines....a Radeon Mk1 64mb DDR, a Radeon 8500LE and a Radeon 9600Pro..

    Good luck mate

Oh yeah......do a defrag after you've installed the new ones....then reboot before doing anything else

New drivers need tidying up in Windows Every bit of speed helps in gaming
