I wonder why Nvidia was so silent about this??!! No wonder the 9600GT perfoms so well!! It would interesting to compare the 8800GT and HD3850/HD3870 if this feature was disabled!!

From what I understand any board that allows changing the PCI-E speed. Apart from Nvidia, all the usual boards for Overclocking, ASUS, ABIT, GIGABYTE, MSI, have that feature, so it should work on pretty much all of them.Quote:

I wonder how good it is at ensuring that it doesn't OC too far. It's certainly interesting and novel and I actually think it's not a bad thing that nVidia didn't try to attach some fancy names for what's basically a semi-automated overclock.

No the 8800GT doesn't have it.
590 & 680 chipset ones but nVidia supposedly removed linkboost as a feature from nF6 a while ago (afaik it was causing problems -a bit like the firewall etc. built into nF4)Quote:

'Extreme' editions will have a non-locked multiplier, allowing OC by both GPU clock and PCI-E clock. ;)
