I believe all of the X2's are GDDR3. Thats graphics memory and has nothing to do with RAM (DDR, DDR2 etc..).

All you need is to make sure you have the right connectors on your power supply (2 x 6pin for no overclocking 1 x 6pin and 1 x 8pin for overclocking) and your motherboard has PCi-E.

There is a newer GDDR4 version of the 3870X2 coming out and theory this should be slightly faster than the older GDDR3 version!

Slightly perhaps, but I'm skeptical of whether the difference is worth the bother.

I have also heard that the GDDR4 cards are shorter too!

    Interesting! wonder when?

I too am looking at possibly buying a 3870x2 this month and have been debating between the Sapphire and the MSI versions. The Sapphire does confusingly mention that it has a 256-bit GDDR3/GDDR4 memory interface ? whereas the MSI lists only GDDR3. Besides this and the fact that the MSI is slightly over clocked to 850MHz the specifications for both cards seem identical.
There is no mention of warranty periods with either, even on Scan.
