ATI cuts prices on the 3850 and 3870 - The INQUIRER
which means they should drop even further...
It'd be crazy to not get Crossfire if an HD3870 is £100... and i don't care what anyone says - that card is powerful...

Awesome news. ATI are going to reclaim a lot of market share
no doubt.. with 3850 as cheap as chips.. im suprised anyone bothers with 8600s anymore..
Of course, the 9600GT has a kick but its put into too far of a price segment above 3850 with this price cut..
Me want Ultrabook
Tempting to get a 3870 if it's less than £100, just doesn't seem worth it at the moment though with Nvidias offerings seeming to be quite a lot better at most price points
Still waiting to find out if the 9800GT (when it's released) will have the same problems with PCI-E 1.0a as the 8800GT though
Good, good. I'm wondering how long it will take for the vendors to translate those price cuts.
i'm thinking 2 weeks like before... though some vendors are still attempting to stock 3870s at like £130/135 or so... like ebuyer has a gigabyte HD3860 that didn't seem to get the idea that the prices have dropped... exactly the same price as their inno3d 8800GTs.
also, novatech i find is quite expensive with their 3870s... their sapphire one still retails for £140 or so
I've been looking recently and there seems to be a lack in the range of 3850 and 3870 card makes on uk suppliers atm, which is a little worrying.
the 4xxxx series needs to be alot faster then the nvidia 9800gx2 for ATI to be back in the game lads.
nothing to rejoice here. the title of this thread is very misleading
it is rejoicing about the price cutting. i mentioned nothing about R700 when i made the thread...
Must say it's taken a while for this price drop to filter down to us in the EU but the prices are comeing down with 3870 for £110
AMD are gonna do very well if those prices translate into UK prices!
i'd be tempted to go for ATi if i hadn't already bought a 9800GTX (which is dead )
3 3870s and a motherboard for the price of 1 graphics card!In any case, these are screamingly good deals. You can buy three 3870s for the price of a 3870X2, or three and a mobo for less than a GX2. Not bad.
that's some bloody good going!
LambdaTek have got a 3870 for £103.65 cheapest I've seen.
Sapphire RADEON HD 3870 512MB DDR4 PCI-E DUAL-DVI HDTV L-RETAIL IN (11122-03-20R)
EDIT: sorry not in stock, so would probably be more, quite a few places lower there out of stock prices I suspect for better ranking on price comparaison websites
Still Ebuyre have got the GeCube 3870 for £110
I agree, however they are currently being pushed heavly by nvidia now mainly by the 9600gt, took them a while though, 8800gt 512 too expensive, 8800gt 256 to weak, 8800gs the less said the better
