Low 3d Marks with decent setup ?

    I get 15-16k in 3dmark2k1 with a 9800 Pro. System specs are:

    AMD Athlon XP 2600+ @ 3200+ speeds (200x11)
    Abit NF7-S rev2.0
    2 x 256MB TwinMOS PC3200 w/winbond
Enermax 460Watt with active PFC Power Supply Unit

It's quite odd that it's so low, i just did a fresh format, put new drivers on and so forth, tested it and it still scored low. Apparently i'm not running enough volts through it *shrugs*

    Any ideas?

heh, nah i've just been told by many people that i've got a low score. I'm not too bothered by it as it's just a number but just seeing everyones point of view

well, if they are the same people who told you that you 'don't have enough volts through it' then i would take no notice of their opinion! to me it looks like your score is in the right ball park, it could probably be a bit higher, i've got a similar setup, and at 2.3ghz i got a shade over 17k, but then that was with one of the older versions of 3dmark2001, so scores could be a bit lower generally with the new ones.

    Well I'm running a 2700+ @ 3000+ speeds
    MSI k7n2-delta
    2x256mb Kingston
    Leadtek a350 TDH fx5900 Ultra (256mb) @ 450/905

and I got about 15,556 on latest 3dmark 2001. I was ok with that. Yoiur machine should maybe be better than that as you may have overclocked your proccessor a bit more and your graphics card might have the edge (oh and u have better ram) so i wouldnt be too upset with yoru score as its pretty much on the mark.

Have you used the drivers before?

As with my ti4200 the newer drivers decreased performance by 1000-2000 marks. I know that it was because the drivers were focussed more on FX's but still. Also the same with the chipset drivers....

    • Stoo's system
      • Motherboard:
      • Mac Pro
      • CPU:
      • 2*Xeon 5450 @ 2.8GHz, 12MB Cache
      • Memory:
      • 32GB 1600MHz FBDIMM
      • Storage:
      • ~ 2.5TB + 4TB external array
      • Graphics card(s):
      • ATI Radeon HD 4870
      • Case:
      • Mac Pro
      • Operating System:
      • OS X 10.7
      • Monitor(s):
      • 24" Samsung 244T Black
      • Internet:
      • Zen Max Pro
That is low, I'm getting over 16k with:

    Barton 2500+@2800+ (333FSB)
    1024MB PC2700 (cheap crap)
    Radeon 9500 softmod @ 297MHz Core / 297MHz Ram
    ASUS A7N8X Deluxe v1.04

I'd expect Kezzer's system to get quite a bit more than me based on the 9800 pro, better (& faster) ram, higher FSB, and higher CPU speed..

You can always check you have AA and AF off and have it set to performance instead of quality if you haven't already done so...

If he thinks 3dmark does it for you then he might not bother changing the settings...

...oh and your not exactly helping either, so shh!
