I don't even know if this is a problem, but is it possible to hook a computer up to my tv, which has a VGA input? It's got a native resolution of 1680*1050, if it makes any difference.
If I just used a DVI to VGA, would that work?

Should work fine. I do it myself with a 26" LCD, Works with both VGA and my HDMI out on my laptop :)
Great for huge screen gaming while playing at a resolution which almost any graphics card can handle
erm... 1680x1050 is definitely *NOT* a TV
flat-panel TVs have 16:9 resolutions (such as 1366x768 or 1920x1080), whereas monitors have 16:10 resolutions (such as 1440x900, 1680x1050, 1920x1200)
regardless, any DVI connector on the back of a graphics card should be able to use a DVI-VGA dongle, if you so wish. you'd get better picture quality just using DVI, though.
But play.com says so...
Oh well.
In the future I'll probably buy a decent monitor, but as of now I need to use my TV.
Cheers.
I figured you were talking about these. They are fantastic things, it's more of a monitor/tv combo than a TV but works very well indeed.
My gf has the analogue TV version and its great.
I would get this though. Updated version and a lot cheaper
Computer hardware and software at amazing prices, available online from Scan Computers UK
It also says it's 16:9 and 720P (1280×720) so one of those specs must be wrong.
I got that tv just the older analog one without digital tuner, great picture quality etc and all the connections you can need.
It is a good tv :), glad i got mine now as it has everything you need and at the time i got it for £200 a year ago and with 5year warranty xD, best compared too similar models.
If you chose that tv you wont be disapointed.
I just got my TV at christmas though, so I don't think I'll change it for a while.
I might just save up for a decent monitor in a few weeks or so, but if I can use my tv now, then I'll just have to :P
