    Crysis Recommendations!

Hi my computer as it stands at the moment:

    Current System Specifications:

    Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E4500, 2 x 2.33GHz
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT
    Memory: 2048MB
    Free Disk Space: 281.71GB
    Optical Drive: CD/DVD
    Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP

I run Crysis at the moment with everything on 'Low' apart from Physic Quality 'High'.
    Resolution: 1440 x 900 at a nice playable speed.

I'm looking to upgrade my graphics card to bump up the Graphics Quality. Any idea of what card I should purchase to get the most out of my rig at the moment.

I can't play stand the Graphics Quality at the moment after I ran it with everything on High at 800 x 600 it just looks so gooooood.

well at your resolutiion an 8800GT would do you nicely
i think the 8800GTS would judt be overkill for that resolution.

Yep and 8800GT would see that running nicely.

9600GT and ATi HD38**'s would br great as well if you want to save a bit. Ocuk have both for around £95 at the moment I think.

    Re: Crysis Recommendations!

8800GT is a good bet for Crysis. However the Crysis performance of the HD3870 with the latest ATI drivers is far better than when the card was orginally released!!

If you are willing to buy off Ebay the 8800GS 384mb is also a decent card to play Crysis on and is better than the 9600GT. The same can be said of the HD3870.

I have seen the 384MB 8800GS cards go for between £70 to £90 including postage on Ebay.

Have you tried overclocking your E4500?? My one reaches 3ghz quite easily.

But it looks as though the 8 Series is on its last legs... and I'd really like to be able to play it comfortabley at High or Very High.

i played the whole game including the latter stages of the game (where everything seems to be more taxing on your computer) with everything on a mixture of high and ultra-high..

    that's at 1280 x 1024 on an 8800GT OC'd to 700 / 1750 / 2000

so the 8800GT will do you nicely

Hmm... how do I do that, I tried Overclocking my GPU but when ever I changed the settings and saved it, when I opened it they just went back to default speed again.

So how do I overclock my CPU and is there a way of monitoring the temperature aswell I don't fancy it going under after one day of use... My dad would go spare.

I think you have not realised that newer 8800 series cards are actually the 9 series with a different name!!

The 8800GTS 512MB G92 is actually the very same core(G92) as the 9800GTX but the later runs at a faster clockspeed. The 8800GS is being renamed the 9600GSO. The 9800GX2 is two underclocked 8800GTS cards.

The 9800GX2 a is probably the only card that can play Crysis on all settings on very high comfortably at the moment. It costs over £300!!

Any specific brand I notice the ASUS cards were faster then the others.

they're all exactly the same card under the cooler.. so whichever you go for should be just as fast as any other
Scan are selling an EVGA 1 for £138..
life-time warranty, newer cooler, plenty of extras in the box and a 90-day step-up program..

Computer hardware and software at amazing prices, available online from Scan Computers UK

Would it be a bit overkill if I bought a 9800GX2 on my system.

not if you OC'd your processor a bit..
    what speed is your RAM?
    800MHz?

edit: for your reso it would, but just get an 8800GT, honestly.

Thats good. I'll probably get a 8800GT in the end but can you reassure me that nothing better will come out in the next couple of months. And its not a waste of money?
