Re: 8800 gts 512 or 9800gtx
13 pounds difference, go for the 9800gtx.
Re: 8800 gts 512 or 9800gtx
Might aswell.
BUT....shop around...
The 8800GTS 512 and 8800GTX are still comparable cards remember. THe 9800GTX will not outlive these 2. Its a step side ways rather than a step up.
Re: 8800 gts 512 or 9800gtx
If you can pickup the 9800GTX for the £160 or whatever it was on play.com then of course go for that. However i expect they are all gone - If so i would say at that resolution an 8800GTS would more than last you into the future.

Re: 8800 gts 512 or 9800gtx
The Gainward 8800GTS is on Scan's TodayOnly for £152.75 inc
I'm in a similar situation and am looking for an 8800GTS card. I was tempted by an EVGA card but is it worth paying extra for the EVGA brand?
Out of Gainward, BFG, XFX, EVGA, Asus, Leadtech, Gigabyte, MSI where would you rank them.
My choice would probably be
EVGA -> BFG -> Gainward -> Leadtech -> Asus -> XFX -> Gigabyte -> MSI
but then I don't buy graphics cards very often and am going by what I've read. Any others worth mentioning I've missed?
Re: 8800 gts 512 or 9800gtx
Looking at the spec in your sig, I don't think your motherboard will support that 8800GTS :)
The CPU might also be a little underpowered for the latest games :)
Re: 8800 gts 512 or 9800gtx
I would have EVGA/BFG/Gainward at the top.
XFX definitely at the bottom.
Everything else is much the sameness.
I have had two previous EVGA cards and the quality was good. THe set-up for Europeans is poor though so if you are buying for that then dont bother.
I went BFG this time and wasnt disappointed (also have a lifetime warranty).
Each to their own though.

I hope that sig spec isnt real.
Re: 8800 gts 512 or 9800gtx
Definately some good prices on Scan, will ask them if they will ship to Spain.
Does anyone have a link to a review of these cards?
Cheers
Re: 8800 gts 512 or 9800gtx
EVGA -> BFG -> XFX -> Asus -> Gainward -> Leadteck -> Gigabyte -> MSI
some of my reasoning is the warranty periods offered my manufacturers.
EVGA - Lifetime
BFG - 10yrs
XFX - Lifetime
Asus - 3yrs
Gainward/Leadtek/Gigabyte/MSI - 1yr
Re: 8800 gts 512 or 9800gtx
for £12, just get the 9800GTX
Re: 8800 gts 512 or 9800gtx
I'd say get the 8800GTS, my Gainward Bliss is very good.
And club is a brand I've never heard of.

10yrs is the max you get in Europe, that's what EVGA told me, EU law says so, and XFX as far as I know only give 2 years warranty... and even that isn't worth a p*** in the wind either due to their procedure.....
Re: 8800 gts 512 or 9800gtx
Even outside the EU you'll probably find that it means 10years as a graphics card will be End Of Life well before that time period is up makeing it near enough impossible to repair/replace.
AFAIK lifetime is not your life but the product line life.
GSte is correct XFX warranty is only 2 years in the EU.
Also don't know what the current state of Gainward is now they are owned by Pailt.
Re: 8800 gts 512 or 9800gtx
goto Overclockers UK gts for £140
but i would go for 9800 cuz its jus newer and go braging rights but proformace terms i dunno
Re: 8800 gts 512 or 9800gtx

i thought evga only supported 1 year? sorry if this sounds dumb but when i was looking for a card thats what i read in their warranty agreement, 1year for people outside of canada and us and some other country, i would expect it to be lifetime/10years here because people keep saying that but it contradicts their warranty contract :P.
Also, bfg is 10years from them but scan say 999months, would that mean my warranty is with scan? because 999months is much more then 10years :P.
Just curious.
