Asus EN8800GTS vs EN8800GTX
Howdy Chaps,
Posted this within another thread in the Hardware section, then I noticed this Graphics cards section so thought I'd post it here as well!
Given the two options:
Asus EN8800GTS: £153.00 inc. VAT
Asus EN8800GTX: £185.38 inc. VAT
Which would you go for on a 24" monitor? Or would you spend another £60 over the GTX and get an Radeon HD3870 X2 for £246.74??
Also, I hear tell that there'll be new cards out around June/July that may just be capable of playing something like Crysis at full-detail, any thoughts on this? Should I just buy something like an 8800GT for now and wait a couple of months? All thoughts welcomed :)
cheers

i would get a 8800GT and wait for the 9900 series cards to come out. if i was ot buy now for that res i would buy the 9800gtx

For a 24" monitor the extra spent on the GTX would be worthwhile IMHO
You might even consider the newer 9800GTX
Computer hardware and software at amazing prices, available online from Scan Computers UK

Spending nearly 250 quid on a GPU seems a little mad unless you've got money to burn. It simply doesn't make sense when you consider "bang4buck". A cheaper 8800GT now and a newer card in x months time also doesn't make sense to me as the 8800GT isn't going to satisfy at 1920 x 1200.
I don't think you will be able to play Crysis at full detail at native resolution with the GTS so if that is your aim then you should dig deep and get the GTX (either 8800 or 9800). From what I've read there isn't a great deal of difference between the 8800GTX and the 9800GTX performance wise but the 9800GTX generally comes out on top - plus it's a newer card and driver updates etc might improve the gap.
