Problem with Zalman VF 1000 graphics card cooler
Hi,
I fitted a Zalman VF-1000 cooler to my 8800GT today. When I turn the computer on, the LED light on the cooler lights up and the fan spins, but then a second later the light goes out and the fan stops. Turning the knob on the FanMate has no effect. If I plug the cooler straight into the motherboard, bypassing the FanMate, everything seems to work as it should but obviously I have no control over the fan's speed.
I'm extremely happy with the drop in temps over the stock cooler (about 17/18 degrees at idle), but I can't figure out why the cooler won't work unless it's plugged straight into the motherboard. Any help would be gratefully received.
Thanks,
Steve.
Re: Problem with Zalman VF 1000 graphics card cooler
Sounds like a short or fault in the Fan Mate unit. Looking at the pictures on the Zalman site it appears the Fan mate uses standard fan connections. Have you tried connecting it to another fan that you know works to see if it gets power?

Thanks for the reply. I bought a 3 pin to 4 pin adapter and that solved the problem. I don't know why it didn't work properly when it was plugged straight into the motherboard, but all is well now. :)
