Is a driver re-install necessary?

I am upgrading from a 7800GT to an 8800GT and have the latest XP drivers installed (169.21). If I uninstall the 7800 from device manager and then switch the cards physically, do I still have to uninstall/reinstall the drivers even though they are for a "unified architecture". The advice elsewhere is contradictory.

just swap cards m8, the new one will be detected.

it will be fine, but i would reinstall the drivers any way (even though there is no need to if you have the latest forceware).
