Pine Technology XFX® GeForce® 8800 Ultra, (768 MB) P... on eBay, also Graphics Video Cards, Graphics, Video TV Cards, Desktop PC Components, Computing (end time 10-Jun-08 21:09:55 BST)
Knock yourself out mate.
Plenty of them on ebay.
Might try and get one myself now. Then I can stretch to the bigger Samsung HDTV
Been reading this thread with interest as I too am thinking about a new monitor, heard lots of good things about the Dell. 24"
Is the new dell revision out for it yet?
If so I think I'm going to plump for that one.
Is there a way to tell if it is the new actual variant? I'm guessing they'll give it a new part number or something?
Guessing the new one with be A01 as the current is A00. Thats how dell usually do it.
Chances are if someone has an A01 to sell you they will be making a big fuss about it.
Makes sense, I'll keep my eyes open
Just rang Dell to find out about this new revision , he didnt seem to know anything about that but he was very keen to sell me one, even gave me his direct line with the promise of some discount.
I'm so tempted to grab this right now
Yeah that's just it, it's not a discount if their price is more than the others in the first place
It is if the end product is that much better.
I just bought one from eBuyer.com for £410.
Scan ran out just before I placed my order.
Scan were pretty damn efficient with the rest of my order though.
Ordered Wednesday night, turned up at 8:00 this morning and free postage!

Sorry what I meant was if they load the price at the front end then offer you a discount to bring it in to line with other prices e.g from scan etc then they aren't actually giving you anything, £400 sounds like a good deal there though.
I think I'll be going for this one too, but I'm just going to hold off until the new GPU's come out and see what's what.
Hmm just found the Dell forums and a thread about this monitor in particular.
http://www.dellcommunity.com/support...ending&page=23
It's basically being slated by some of the community with quite a few problems mainly by graphic and photo professionals, saying that there are a lot of split opinions
Apparently if I've understood correctly revision A01 has or hasn't come out, but there is an update or another update due out until mid July and there are no guarantees the issues will be fixed, it's a real train wreck of a thread, I'm just wondering if there are any alternatives to this monitor at 24" then? It looks like you can either get a good or bad one.
Just a quick update, managed to purchase an 8800 ultra; just waiting for it to arrive (or even if... ebay seems so dodgy to me).
Still set on the dell, though the more I wait the more I am tempted by the Samsung.
I also read the dell community forum slating the 2408WFP; I just can't help but feel like the people posting complaining are quite pedantic. It may affect them, but as a casual gamer/watching videos, I doubt I would be as picky. The proof would be if I buy one (very tempted by the Samsun ong Stafffsmike pointed out) and test ride it.

Yeah mixed emotions on the forum about the Dell.
The reason I've decided not to buy the dell is the high input lag, but I'm really going for a maxed out gaming experience as all I'll be using it for is games so if you are casual I'm sure you will be fine.
Still might be worth waiting for the A01 revision though ?
I'm keen on seeing some reviews of that Sammy too
WIll more than likely wait for the A01 and see what (if) any changes have occured.
My LG19 is fine for gaming, really nice, but it's TN panel and bad viewing angles. I realised that I wasn't so much of a gamer but more multi, so looking for the best all round comrpomise, which was the Dell but the Samsung is mighty fine and ticks all the boxes apart from its £500+ asking price.
[EDIT]
Oh and I'm on a look out for another cheap 8800 ultra (might as well go bananas on old gen stuff), just to do the whole "I had SLi" thing. lol.

OK, tested the 8800 ultra, played a quick bit of Oblivion at some nice settings. It works and is smooth (apart from the slow HDD loading in the next area).
I can't leave the GFX card plugged in (case is 1/4" too small damnit) however the gfx card got really quite warm (it was almost too hot to touch) so I'll be sticking riva tuner on when testing later on in the week to see what the temps are like. If there is an issue, I suspect a duff fan; however I have noted that at max load on a review, the core temp got upto 86 deg C! Hot hot hot!
[EDIT]
Sorry, I double posted. If a mod can merge my two posts, that would be very helpful!
Thanks in advance and sorry again.
