Freeview Box - S-Video + Digital Coaxial?

i have just been browsing a couple of sites since i saw a post on here that someone was using s-video for thier freeview box. my monitor has this connection (my system) and was wondering if it would be possible to connect a box to my monitor!:mrgreen:

i just found out s-video does not support sound either so i dont know how to go about connecting sound via the box, i have coaxial digital and optical sound outputs on my speaker system.

is there really such a box that would work with my monitor and setup?

freeview boxes almost exclusively connect via SCART. SCART is a "universal" connector designed to carry multiple different types of signal (composite video, s-video, RGB video, and/or stereo audio), and in many cases, it's possible to split the SCART connector into its component signals and attach those

the exception to the scart rule is dvd recorders w/ built-in freeview. those typically offer s-video out as well as SCART

The S-Video goes into my 2005FPW and the audio things I use a converger thing to 3.5mm which goes into my auxillary input on my subwoofer

so it wouldnt be possible to connect from scart, s-video and coax, due to coax being digital and scart a analogue signal?

am i correct?


are there freeview boxes that contain digital sound output onboard?

a lot of freeview boxes costing more than ten quid have digital audio out, assuming you're going into an amp
