I think it seems a little low, but I could be wrong. I would think you should be getting around 14000. But we'll await the pro's on this one. I'm just a rookie

    Well here's my system :

    Tbred 'b' 2100+ @ 2400mhz
    512mb 3200 @ 200mhz
    TI4400

    http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=7308069

    14305 Marks

So yours would seem a little low yes, although dont be dissapointed if you dont get what I did, thats a highly tweaked/overclocked system there, for a TI4400 thats a very high score

I've just built a new PC and run 3DMark 03 to get 5448. Looking around on the web it would seem people are getting over 6000 with a comparable non-overclocked setup. I;ve got

    Shuttle SN65G2 (intel 865PE 800MHz FSB)
    P4 2.6 GHz 800MHz FSB
1024 Mb Corsair TwinX 4000 Pro
    Hercules Radeon 9800XT
    160Gb SATA Drive

I set up the AGP bandwidth in the BIOS to 256Mb and the CAS latency is at 3-4-4-8 (as indicated by the Corsair site)

Whilst I appreciate the numbers don't mean much I'd appreciate any suggestions as to why I'm around 10% slower than other people with similar setups

    cheers

    unplug your broad band...

    turn off your firewall

    switch off all virus checkers....

    get it ALL OFF

then try.....but Id be half way happy with that....stable is different to fast

there are loads and loads of sites around regarding services, which you can switch off, essential progs, optimising software, allsorts - do a search on google (links are at home and atleast 8 hours away from now before i could get them )

the only advice i've read and actually disagree with is system restore - switch this off last - then any cock ups can be easily undone.

    I've got the following setup:

    Barton 2500 @2.08GHz 333MHz FSB
    1024MB PC2700 cheap crap
    Asus A7N8X Deluxe 1.04
ATI 9800se AIW Softmod (405MHz Core, 344MHz DDR RAM)

I think the biggest difference to me was making sure that the drivers were installed absolutely cleanly, deleting all the old ati files including any of the windows ati drivers etc etc. The "foolproof" install guide on the Rage 3D forums was the method I followed, and I went from just over 13k to over 16k, so it might be worth a try

..and do what Zak said too, (don't forget to turn off seti too ) and see if that makes a difference

    Squilly & KeZZer,
make sure that you don't have any form of AA enabled when you run the test.

    As a comparison my XP1700@11x200/9500 Pro gets about 15,000 & my XP2500@11x200 9700 non-Pro (but @ 325/310) gets about 17,000 - both in NF7-S v2.0's.

I've given up comparing 3DMark scores, they all seem nonsense to me. As long as my games play smooth with good frame rates, I'm ok!

    Yeah I know that

    But my 9500Pro + 2200XP + 1Gb 333 won't top 13,500 even overclocked. Never used 3D Mark 03.

But notice that my XP1700+ is being run at 2.2GHz & 200FSB.
    3DMark2001SE loves higher FSB.

    Ah that'll be why then - I can't overclock my T-Bred B Xp2200
