    Game freeze / crashing

    Hello,

My computer is having trouble with games at the moment, it is fine for a while but after it exits games without any warning or error messages. My initial thoughts is that it is over heating so I downloaded the 'SpeedFan' application and when it exits games the CPU is at ~65 degrees and ATI software states the graphics card is at ~64 degrees.

The CPU is a Athlon XP 2800+ and the GPU is a x1650 running AGP 8x
    (Old system I know lol)

I'm just wondering if my initial thoughts are justified, or is there anything else it could be? It exits any game in the same way, rFactor, LFS, RBR - quick black screen and dumps me back at the desktop.

    ==============================

Second question as to not make double threads...

I am looking to purchase a monitor that can achieve 1080p resolution, the main runner in that at the moment is the samsung 26" and the Belinea 26". I would like to have your advice on the 1920x1080 being upscaled to 1920x1200 as neither of these monitors support 1:1 mappings. Has anyone got any experience on whether or not the image is noticeably stretched or am I just being too picky?
(This is for a future PS3 and GTA4)

What mobo and RAM are you running? If you have more than one stick of memory, try with one stick, then the other to see whether it could be one giving errors.

Those temps for load don't seem too far out to me. Also, what condition's the OS install?

    Hi

Its running XP, the mobo is Asus but I wont be able to verify the model until I go back home and the RAM is ddr400 with 3x512 - I am unsure what's in there I'd have to go take it out and see. Hope this helps

As for the monitor any idea of Price Range?

You could spend anywhere from £270 upwards it really depends on whether you care about image quality and how many connections you need.

I will soon be purchasing one of these:
Computer hardware and software at amazing prices, available online from Scan Computers UK

£420 - 1920 x1200 Res - a whole bunch of connections and it is a good brand (Dell)

And image quality is great for the price apparently..

    Re: Game freeze / crashing

well the Samsung is 450 for the 26" and the Belinea is a little cheaper at 380 for 26" but it is only 2000:1 dynamic vx 3000:1 for the samsung. I'd be tempted to go to £500 but the 30" monitors are way off my price budget and don't offer hdmi either. If there was a good 1080p 32" TV available for that price that would also temp me but unfortunately there are more like £600 or £700 for a decent one, do you think its worth waiting for the TVs to come down in price?

I don't really want to go for 24" as my original plan was to get a 32" or 37" tv for the PS3 but then thought I might as well combine it as a monitor and get that extra workspace for eclipse etc.

Heatsink wise I'm sorry I have no idea, there all standard what came with the GFX card and cpu - I haven't built a computer in ages so am a bit out of touch.
