    Dell 2407 - 1:1 Pixel Mapping (Analogue)

How do I set up a Dell 2407WFP for 1:1 pixel mapping when connected to nVidia 8800GT or 8600GT via a KVM and analogue (VGA) cable?

Err might not have used the right term there

What I'm aiming for is to display games that won't run in widescreen in their 'natural' 4:3 resolution so a game running a 1600x1200 would appear on my monitor with black bands at either side.

Going by the manual here: http://support.dell.com/support/edoc...37;20the%20OSD

Got into the OSD -> Display Settings -> Zoom -> 1:1

Setting it to 'Aspect' should scale a 800x600 input (for example) to 1600x1200 maintaining the 4:3 aspect ratio.

Yup, as pointed out (as long as its the A04 revision) go into the OSD, Display settings and change to either "1:1 or Aspect" to preserve the 4:3 aspect ratio. 1:1 will of course be pixel perfect, and Aspect will stretch the 1600x1200 to fill the vertical as much as it can but maintain the correct 4:3 aspect ratio.

I think the monitor remembers the settings per resolution, at least mine did. So you would have to set it in 1600x1200 and 1280x1024 etc etc. which is very usefull.

    Mike

    Thanks to Funkstar & stormy.

Unfortunately that setting is 'greyed out' and inaccessible to me. Yes I have an A04 revision monitor, but unfortunately it looks like you have to be connected via DVI to access 1:1 pixel mapping, and I don't have a 4-port DVI KVM.

    Ah well, c'est la vie.
