First vaguely reliable benchmarks I've seen - the inquirer test at lots of settings and games, against a 9800GTX on the same computer:

Why didn't they compare it with the GX2? Isn't the 9800gtx is about half the price of the GTX 280?
Testing against a GX2 isn't really a like for like comparison, as you'll be comparing a single card against SLI, which means you can't rule out any performance differences simply being due to an SLI problem etc.
It's testing the top single card against the new top single card, so valid IMO. You might be able to extrapolate out the performance of the X2 version of the new GTX cards if you compare the performance of the GX2 vs the 9800GTX I guess.
I shall be interested to see how the 4870 stacks up - if it's only slightly slower and much (much) cheaper it might be a bit of a bargain. Heck, you might even be able to buy two for the same price as the new GTX
GTX looking good though on benchmarks.. just hope it isn't 600 euros as some are saying..
Radeon HD 4850 scores 13,500 in 3dmark 06 - GTX 280 scores 14,800 (apparently). Weirdness.
For most consumers, "£ for £" comparison is more relevant than "like for like"... When you compare a £180 card with a £300 card (guessed the price) there will be a performance gap... Hexus' bang for buck thingy addresses this issue...
If bang for buck covered tests in as much detail as The Inquirer article then it might be worthwhile yup. But in my opinion the last one I saw only took a few poorly chosen benchmarks and so ended up presenting a misleading measure at the end.
At the end of the day the performance figure is slightly more absolute and even driver revisions don't change the figures that much, compared to any cost based review which is made inaccurate as soon as the market price changes.. and that tends to happen rather often![]()
VR-Zone benchmarks against GX2:

Although the Crysis result seems to be different to that seen in PCGamer caught via OCworkbench:

Holy smokes that looks fast![]()
The Hexus review is up now....
I think they're just milking the 'must have newest thing on the day it comes out' market. If there's any volume to speak of it'll drop, if there's not it won't.
Very good performance as expected.. and don't they know it!!! You could build a decent enough PC for that!
Anyone seen any Call of Juarez DX10 benchmarks on them yet?
Every other game I have runs fine maxed out at my native resolution on my 8800GT, hence no reason to upgrade. I have a passing interest in how Crysis performance is, but I'm waiting for that to hit the bargain bins.
I just hope ATI HD 4870 comes close yet much cheaper then I will buy that. 280 is way overpriced!
Was just looking at the Hexus review, so basically Im not really going to lose anything by going for the Zotac 9800 GX2 card rather than this brand new one and save a heap of cash in the process?
Might give it a week or so then pick the GX2 up in that case, the 8800 GTX has served me well but time to say goodbye.
Can't help feeling somewhat dissapointed by the new card
